If religion and state weren't mixed, we'd have national civil union, if not gay marriage rights.

Oh, and issues with America that don't involve Bush, our POS educational systems, and accepted stereotypes? Easy, people who refuse to accept that the US isn't the best (even if they don't think the US sucks, the acceptance that the United States needs a lot of improvement, and a bit of ethnic cleanising,) the mixing of church and state when the constitution specifically denotes it's not allowed, AND all of the states with stupid laws. (Arkansas and Utah for example) I never said US was the best, but I consider it equal with most other countries. Every country has its issues.

Yes, but the US is the only country to have these issues affect me, so I hate it the most, with a gleaming, multi-faceted hate. Which is why I think the US is one of the worst countries of the civillized world. And I'll beat people in the face to prove my point if I must.

Religion is great until you preach that you are the right and only 'true' way and as a whole begin pushing it on your country as a whole. these issues were supposed to not be in America. especially the religious one... Its really sad when countrys that are supposed to be far worse in sexism than we are have a woman leader as their country first... with what America was supposed to be we should have had blacks and women as well as men listed as our presidents... but still to this day its all a bunch of old white men.

If you beat people in the face to prove it, you're pretty much just placing yourself no better then the born-again Christians. I haven't seen many religious prejudice around where I live. Problem is NOT MANY WOMEN OR BLACKS EVEN RUN. So that's an inaccurate judgment. By the way, Sami says it's likely she'll close this. Closing arguments, go!

And I'd just open it back up again, and grill you for closing it without a good and proper reasoning.
And, Ryu, when people don't see prejudice and discrimination, it's mostly because they're not properly paying attention.
Most of the worst things that happened to Sage and I were things we didn't even notice until we changed religions. To 'see' these things, you have to be able to see through the eyes of the persecuted, as the worst things turn out to be the smallest or least noticeable to other, usually.
OH, and beating people in the face to prove my point is the only thing that works well against born again Christians, PLUS it prevents them from trying the reverse.

OH, and beating people in the face to prove my point is the only thing that works well against born again Christians, PLUS it prevents them from trying the reverse. That's a shockingly good point. I just happen to live in a nice area. I'm agnostic, also known as the 'I don't care' belief. There, once again, aren't many persecuted people in my area anyway. And I can state I'm in no hurry to change religions.

'Nice' areas tend to be the meanest.
Just one question: Do you get out much, and assoiciate with people who aren't like you often?

Not really to the first sentence, yes to the second.
The problem with conversations on religion and politics (i.e. the two things that should never be discussed) is that everything is opinion, and most people aren't ever going to change theirs. So what exactly is the point of a thread like this one?

To have fun with the assertion that one's own opinion is the superior.
And we're not talking about politics. Politics is a process, and we haven't been talking about it at all.

Well, seeing as how this is just a battle of inflated egos, I'm out of this thread. It has ceased to amuse me.

It's less a battle of inflated egos, and more I'm waiting for Shiki to come up with a witty response to amuse me and have an interesting argument with.
