"Something isn't right here...." thought Arc when they arrived at the city close to the hole Pippin had made. "Isn't cerulean city supposed to be larger than this? This is just a small town! Pippin, how far did you dig? And how long were we in that crawl space?" Suddenly, Arc felt woozy and faint again. "Wha...? What's...goin..on? Tiedro.....Pippin...." Arc moaned before he crashed to the ground, unconscious.
Blackness. "Is....is this a dream? Well, of course, it can't be, or else I wouldn't be questioning if it were a dream or not! Or maybe that's just what they want you to think....Who are "they"? Why am I having a conversation with myself?" Reality faded in lazily as Arc slowly opened his eyes. He was on a bed, and a person was looking down at him.
"Nurse....nurse Joy?" "Why yes, that's me! " "What...happened to me?" "A couple of villagers found you fainted not far from the town. Your pokemon were in a state of panic, that was what attracted the people." Arc bolted up into a sitting position, "My pokemon! Tiedro! Pippin! Where are they?" Nurse Joy gently pushed Arc back down as he was before "Don't worry, they are here, and under my care. They are fine, and healed now, too. You need rest...you should get some sleep." "But, I can't! I need to know that they are ok!" "Ugh! Sometimes, I swear! You people are just soooo stubborn!" She stormed out of the room and returned shortly with Tiedro and Pippin in tow. "There! Now can you rest? Your pokemon are safe!" "Actually, I'm feeling quite fine already....strange.....how long was I asleep?" He said with the look of a person who is lost in thought. He stood up and flexed his limbs while awaiting an answer from Joy. She looked down at her feet and responded in a low mumble. "For three whole days..." "What!?!" Arc surprised even himself with the sudden outburst. Both Tiedro and Pippin flinched, and Nurse Joy jumped. "Well, where are we then?" he questioned Joy. "This is Lavender Town....I thought you knew that already?" Arc began to stammer as words fell out of his open mouth like soup from a can. "Bu...but...that...that's not possible! Mt.Moon leads to Cerulean City, not Lavender Town! How can this....how.......how..." His voice grew softer each time, until his eyes grew wide when he saw Tiedro's swirl. Of course! "Hypnosis! I must have been delirious the whole time! I have no idea how long that tunnel Pippin dug was....but it must have been pretty huge to get us from Mount Moon all the way to Lavender!"
Joy was looking at Arc like he was out of his mind....and he could tell that she was fearing for his health, both mental and physical, so he explained it to her. "Well, I got stuck in a cave-in in Mt.Moon, but I found this clefairy, so I thought maybe it can help us get out of here. I had my Tiedro use Hypnosis, but I guess I looked directly at his swirl, because I think I fell under it as well. Well, Clefairy managed to dig us out of the cave, but I don't remember how long we were in the digging crawl space. I'm starting to doubt my own memories now though, but that's what I remember happening...." "Hmmmm...what a strange occurence...I guess it checks out though....you can leave if you want. You look okay anyways." She gave him a half smile, it almost looked like a smirk. "Thanks for taking care of me!"
He waved goodbye to Nurse Joy as he left the pokecenter (for it was indeed a pokecenter) and the sliding glass door slid shut.
Immediately his attention was drawn to the tower that dominated the city's skyline. He gazed upon it in wonder, and felt a certain attraction emitting from the building. "Come on, guys! Let's go see that tower!"

As Arc approached the Tower, he could feel an overwhelming sense of dread, almost like it was threatening to pull him through the ground (that sounded better in my head xD). Yet the tower stood majestically and beautifully to the eyes of the beholder, and that was enough to draw him to it.
He pushed open the ancient door, and came into a dim, deserted foyer, much like that of a mansion. Spiderwebs were congregating in corners and on the ceiling, giving the place a sinister ambience. The eye catcher was truly the immense chandelier, however, it was also covered by the hideous webs. A giant staircase stood behind the chandelier, with antique wooden rails and faded carpeting on the steps (lol scene stolen from the Titanic). Seeing as there were no other doors on this level, Arc ascended the stairs. There was a single large, double wooden door. It was still relatively new looking, and it stood out now that the chandelier was out of view. Apprehesively, he turned the knob of one side of the door and let it sway ajar. He hesitantly walked into the room.
In contrast to the previous room, this one was lit with candles and a few torches in sconces on the walls. It was a regular sized room, with a circular flight of stairs leading somewhere above on the opposite side of where Arc was standing. There was a single occupant, who seemed to be muttering and moaning as Arc entered. They quickly turned around, and Arc saw that it was a short, female medium. She addressed him sharply,
"Why are you here? For what reason have you come?" "Might I have the pleasure of asking you first?" "Well, I am a medium, my kind are always here!" She said with a slight smirk on her face. "Yes, but I couldn't help but notice that you are, well, the only one." "Alas, this tower has been abandoned. Ever since," she paused here for a moment, "well, that's not the point. Tell me why you are here first!" "If you must know, I was sort of, drawn here.....I really don't know why I came...." "Ahhhhh! Then you have felt it too!" "Ehhmmm, felt....what exactly?" She came to his side and whispered, "The spirits, they are restless!" Arc had a puzzled expression on his face, this old lady wasn't making much sense to him. "So....you say the spirits are...restless? How do you know that?" "Because I'm a medium! Look around, you dolt! Sometimes yew young 'uns are not so bright..." Arc had only just now noticed the dozens of graves littering the room. "Oh! Those spirits! This must be the pokemon tower that I'd heard about before...where pokemon are...oh." He decided to stop shouting, it might make the spirits even more "restless". "Well, I think I'm just gonna have a look around the tower. Oh, you were saying something about the tower being "abandoned ever since".....when exactly?" "It started about a year ago, give or take a couple months. All of us mediums noticed increasing spiritual activity around here. We have no idea what might be causing it, but somewhere, something was and still is happening that is causing the spirits to be upset. Lately, they have been even more active than ever! Be careful, and watch your pokemon. Spirits have been known to become jealous of the living." She turned to exit the room, and as she was leaving, Arc asked her a final question, "Wait, if this tower was abandoned a year ago, then why are you here right now?" She answered him with a wink, "For the same reason as you."
The door shut with an ominous creak, Arc had entered one of the rooms of the upper levels. "Man, this place is creepy..." he said to himself. Tiedro nodded in agreement, and Pippin shuddered violently. The room was lit, but it seemed dark as night. The floorboards creaked with every step, portending doom by falling through the floor..."There's that feeling again..." thought Arc.
In the blink of an eye, all of the candles were extinguished. A wind blew forcefully through the room, and the temperature plummeted. "What's going on?!?!" Arc had to yell to be heard over the miniature gale forming in the chamber. Marble gravestones began spontaneously exploding into fine dust, which then was whipped up into an amorphous ball by the wind. Arc mustered up what little courage he had and yelled aloud, "Who are you!?! What are you? Show yourself!"
Sooner than Arc had wished, the being answered his questions. Hollow eyes and a mouth began to form from the ball, and soon they molded into the shape of a pokemon skull. A torso began extending from the head, and then short arms and legs. A tail appeared as well. Arc got the feeling that whatever it was didn't want them to be here, and his conjecture was affirmed when he was suddenly forced backwards against the wall behind him. It felt like there was a tight grip around his throat, choking him and pinning him to the wall. It let go, and he slumped to the floor, hacking and gagging but still conscious. Quickly he snatched up Tiedro and Pippin, held them in a death grip (no, not as in he is squeezing them to death), and made for the door "We gotta get outta here!" His attemped was foiled, however, when he was grabbed again, lifted into the air a couple of feet, and thrown through a nearby window!

Ryu had arrived in Lavender Town. Calling Salamence back into its PokeBall, Ryu went over to the Pokemon Center. Healing his Pokemon quickly, Ryu headed to Mr. Fuji's house and Pokemon Reserve. He knocked on the door and was greeted by one of Fuji's assistants.
"How can I help you, Agent..."
"Ryu," Ryu finished, smirking a bit.
"Ah, Agent Ryu. It's hard to get all you agents straight." He laughed.
"Be happy we're not RI-ON...then you'd have to call us by letters." Ryu replied, laughing as well.
"Anyway, what can we do for you?"
"I'm looking for Mr. Fuji...is he around?"
"No, sorry...he went up to the Pokemon Tower with some strange looking guys in black."
Rockets...Ryu thought. This detour just got a bit more interesting.
"Alright, thanks." Ryu thanked the assistant and left the house.

It was a long way down.
Arc hadn't realized how high up they were in the tower, but not that it mattered much since they were falling to an imminent doom. He quickly took out Tiedro's and Pippin's pokeballs and called them back into them. At least his pals would be safe from harm. He started to wonder what would happen if a pokeball was crushed or broken, but repulsed that thought from his mind.
He stared down the approaching ground and braced himself for the impact.....
(Sorry about the short post, but there's really not much you can say in the air xD)

Ryu felt a small chill run down his spine as he entered the old and decrepit building in the center of Lavender Town. He glanced around to see trainers mourning for lost Pokemon. He didn't see Mr. Fuji, so he walked up the staircase to the second floor.
There was an eerie silence in this room. An ominous wind flowed through the shoddy, curtain-less windows.
I don't like this place... Ryu said.
A hand grabbed him from behind. He jumped back, hand on Blaziken's PokeBall, ready to face the threat. But there was no one there.
Ryu sweat a bit, feeling utterly out of his element. He was a man of science...Ghost Pokemon confused the hell out of him.
As he felt another hand on his shoulder, he ran at a high speed to the next floor. Of course, as he got there, he heard a crashing sound above him.
"Salamence!" He called. Salamence emerged from its custom PokeBall just time time to catch the falling person on its back.
"Jesus Christ, are you alright?" Ryu ran over, breathless and attempting to determine if the other guy was still alive.
(I saved your life. I'm both an anti-hero AND a convenient plot device! xD)

(Lol)
Arc had been winded when Salamence broke his fall, and he fell to the floor, gasping for air. His breaths came in short, sharp bursts. He felt slightly light-headed for a moment, but regained his composure. "I think I'll be fine...thanks....for that..." he said between gulps of air.
"There's something wrong with this tower...a medium told me that the spirits have been restless for a while now.....she said something about them being upset....I believe that I met one of them upstairs. It seemed pretty lively, for a ghost, that is. I just don't understand why that marowak threw me from the tower...at least my pokemon and I are safe now." He took a second to release Pippin and Tiedro from their pokeballs. "Don't worry guys, it's over now. This man saved us. Oh, I never got your name? Mine's Arc, by the way."

"The name's Ryu." Ryu said, helping Arc up. "Mysterious spirits, huh?" he thought for a second. "That's...certainly abnormal."
"By the way, have you seen any suspicious characters in black around here?"

"People in black? Haven't seen any so far....the only person I encountered here was an old medium...why do you ask? Are these people 'upsetting' the spirits?"

"I should be fine now, thanks. Are you after these people in black? What have they done?"

Ryu thought for a bit. "I'm not sure what they've done this time." He eventually stated, "But they've done numerous crimes in the past."
"I'm looking for a man named Mr. Fuji who apparently went off with a group of them. Have you seen him?"

Arc had heard of Mr.Fuji before, he was a renowned pokemon enthusiast. Something just didn't fit in......"Mr.Fuji? Why whould he be with a group of criminals? Have they captured him?"
Something suddenly dawned on Arc, "Wait, you can't be talking of Team Rocket, by any chance? Of course! It makes sense that they would kidnap Fuji, being a pokemon enthusiast, and take him here, but for what purpose....?"

"I'm not entirely sure...but I think it has something to do with a friend of mine's disappearance...and...what was that thing called..."
Ryu was hit with a sudden burst of understanding. "Mewtwo! They need to be able to control Mewtwo!" Ryu looked at Arc. Do you want to accompany me to the top? Even I can't defeat a group of Rockets, and you were headed there to begin with..."

"Mewtwo? Is that a weapon of some sort? We must stop them? I'm not a hotshot at battling myself, but I'll try my best! We should get going, then. This seems pretty urgent."

"Believe me, it is. Mewtwo is the ultimate Pokemon, created by labs on Cinnabar Island. If Giovanni does get a hold of him, the world is probably screwed. Now, let's go!" Ryu ran up the steps to the next floor, calling back Salamence and instead sending out Absol. At least he would have a type advantage...
